Sykes commented: “I am delighted to take over the reins at the TFTA. Ed Hurford has done a great job over the last two years, and I aim to emulate his achievements, not least with the recent trademark of our brand, Golden Turkey. We will also be attending CountryFile Live in August at Blenheim Palace, and very much hope that both consumers and producers alike, will come along to the stand to learn more about the association and our farming ethos.”

The association has also commissioned TV chef Rachel Green and photographer Michael Powell to develop, style and photograph a selection of leftover recipes.

This year’s offering includes turkey, ham and pecan nut crumble, herby turkey and cranberry sausage rolls, cashews and roasted turkey, turkey and kale colcannon with fried eggs, slow cooked turkey legs with wild mushrooms, nasi goreng with lime, salsa cruda and guacamole and street style tostadas with turkey.

The TFTA aims to produce free range Christmas turkeys of the highest quality, finish, flavour and texture.

The association was formed in 1984 and now has 37 members across the UK, producing over 165,000 turkeys specifically for the Christmas market.

The turkeys are supported by the Golden Turkey Quality Assurance Guarantee, which gives consumers a guarantee that they are buying a genuine golden turkey produced to the highest standards on British traditional family farms.

Golden Turkeys are marketed only through farm shops and quality butchers.
