Maurice William Buchanan, founder of Gressingham Foods, has died aged 86.

Maurice was the beloved husband of Miriam, father of William and Geoff, father-in-law of Becky and Ali, grandfather of Abi, James, Millie, Oliver, Olivia, Maddy and Charlie.

Described by Gressingham as a man of great Christian faith, Maurice will be missed by all who knew him.

Maurice and Miriam moved to Suffolk from Northern Ireland with their two sons in 1971 where Maurice established a chicken farm. He started farming ducks in the late 80s and founded Gressingham Foods in 1989.

Through his leadership and innovation the business became established in the retail and wholesale markets, and Gressingham Foods is now the major supplier of ducks in the UK. Maurice’s sons William and Geoff are group directors.

There will be a private family funeral. The family look forward to welcoming friends and colleagues to a service of thanksgiving celebrating Maurice's life at Easton Grange, Kettleburgh Road, Easton, Suffolk IP13 0EL on Tuesday 16th April at 2pm. Instead of flowers, donations to St John’s Church, Woodbridge are welcomed.
