Local beef farmers from the region will be at the Tesco Extra store at Danestone this weekend
reminding those visiting that Scottish farmers not only produce some of the best tasting beef in the world, but it’s being born, bred, fed and processed right on their doorstep.
To back up the message to buy local and trust Scottish produce, samples of tasty roast Scotch Beef will be given out free to hundreds of consumers.
Regional Chairman Roddy Catto, who farms at Whitecairns near Aberdeen said:“Scotch Beef is the finest in the world and here in the North East, we breed and feed the very best.
“Scottish shoppers have always put their trust in local produce and last year’s revelations on how some foods are produced helped justify their trust. We want to thank them for their support, give them a taste of the great beef that is being produced on their doorstep and encourage them to put more Scotch Beef in their basket when doing their weekly shop."
Dani McCann, Tesco Marketing manager in Scotland said: “We are delighted that all the fresh pre-pack and counter beef that we sell in our 200 stores in Scotland is Scotch beef which comes from McIntosh Donald at Portlethen. In addition to Scotch beef, the vast array of other Scottish products that we sell locally from the Aberdeenshire area which shoppers are also able to buy in Danestone include Mackie’s ice cream, Mackintosh of Glendaveny rapeseed oil, Deeside water, Deans shortbread, JG Ross Butteries and mackerel from the North Sea.”
