Preparations for Tri-nations Butchers Challenge underway

The British Tri-Nations team has been training at Leeds City College’s butchery department as they continue their preparations ahead of the Tri-Nations Butchers Challenge in New Zealand on 10th September.

Team captain, David Lishman of Lishman’s Butcher, Ilkley is confident that they will be timing their preparations just right to peak for the event.

“The British Tri-Nations team is practicing hard for the forthcoming Butchery challenge in Auckland in September and we have been training recently at the fabulous facilities offered to us by Leeds City College’s butchery department,” explained David.

“We are well aware that the Aussies and last year’s winners, the Kiwis have also been putting a lot of time into their competition entries. We’re fortunate to be backed by Eblex, Dalziels and Lucas’s as our main sponsors, and are confident that with a little more time, we will be at our peak for the event.”

Preparations will continue with a ‘dress rehearsal’ at Meatup on 30th June where the six butchers will have another opportunity to hone their skills and experience the added pressure of a performing in front of an audience. This forms part of the demonstration and competition programme at the event.

Visitors to Meatup can see the team in action as well having the opportunity to network with industry professionals at the UK’s only national event dedicated to the meat industry. The two day exhibition takes place on Tuesday 30th June and Wednesday 1st July at the NAEC, Stoneleigh in Warwickshire. There is also free parking and a top class seminar programme.
