Product judging starts for 2023 Meat Awards

Product judging for this year’s Meat Management Industry Awards has commenced and judges are in for a busy few days as entries continue to arrive by the hundreds at the Regional Food Academy test kitchens, located at Harper Adams University, Shropshire.

Judging is underway at the Regional Food Academy at Harper Adams University, Shropshire.

The panel of judges headed up by Keith Fisher, the CEO of the Institute of Meat, has now started the process of evaluating entries. Fisher commented: “The range and quality of products, and the diversity of companies and brands that have entered is brilliant and we have a busy few days in prospect.

“These awards always set the benchmark and stand out for the scope of what they cover and the substantial support the initiative attracts. I look forward to joining colleagues, plus the finalists and winners at the awards ceremony later this year. It is an event that should not be missed.”

All results will be revealed later this year at the popular ceremony scheduled for 12th September at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole, when Britain’s biggest event of its type for the meat industry will bring together guests and awards partners to celebrate the best of the best.

Publisher of Meat Management magazine Graham Yandell added: “I understand that the team of home economists responsible for cooking and preparing entries prior to judging this week have reported a very high standard of entry, which indicates a big job for those preparing the products in the kitchens which are then put forward for the judges to evaluate over the coming days.”

Sharon Yandell, the lead organiser for the MM Meat Industry Awards said: “I would like to thank everyone who has taken the time to enter. It is not always easy to find the time to nominate and then enter products, but I am pleased to say that as usual once again we have a fantastic range for the judges to evaluate.”

She concluded: “We are really looking forward to the next awards ceremony taking place on 12th September. This is always a very special evening with great support and excellent networking. With demand for tickets and tables likely to be high this year, I recommend an early visit to the website to reserve places for the September ceremony and to take advantage of an early bird booking discount which offer a big saving for those reserving tables now.”
