QMS appoints new head of industry development

Quality Meat Scotland (QMS) has appointed Douglas Bell as its new head of industry development.

Bell, who replaces Johnny Mackey, is currently head of the Agricultural Policy Unit of SAC Consulting, part of SRUC, Scotland’s Rural College.

He will start his new role with QMS at the end of October.

Uel Morton, QMS chief executive, said: “Doug brings a wealth of experience, as well as core skills, to the role and we look forward to him joining our staff team in the coming weeks.

“QMS’s industry development activities are an important area of our workload and we are very encouraged by the strong interest from farmers in grassroots activities aimed at improving the profitability, sustainability and confidence of the Scottish red meat industry.”
