Success for Butchers Q Guild members at Great Taste Awards

Butchers Q Guild members nationwide have received multiple honours in the 2015 Great Taste Awards, organised by The Guild of Fine Food.

Moody Sow Farm Shop, Cardiff received 1-star for its

Moody Sow Farm Shop, Cardiff received 1-star for its Steak and Stilton Pie.

The Awards attracted an entry of 10,000 different products, which were presented as 1-, 2- or 3-star awards.

Lawson Butchers in Uphill, West Lothian, and Ferguson of Airdrie both received 2-stars for its Haggis, with the former also receiving a 2-star award for its New Season Cannon of Lamb and a 1-star for its Black Pudding.

Hepburns of Mountnessing, in Essex, received 2-stars for its Smoked Streaky Bacon, along with a four 1-star awards for its Smoked Back Bacon, Farmhouse Sausage, Smoked Cooked Ham, and Honey and Orange Ham.

Walter Smith Fine Foods was another 2-star winner with its Traditional Free Range Pork Sausage, and also received a hat-trick of 1-star awards for its Shepherds Pie with Cheese and Leek Crust, Free Range Scotch Eggs, and Black Watch Scotch Eggs.

Other winners included Owtons Butchers in Southampton, C Lidgate’s Butchers, London, Somerset’s Jon Thorner’s in Pylle and the Moody Sow Farm Shop, Cardiff.

Q Guild manager Gordon Newlands said: “Yet again, both our butcher and corporate members have demonstrated that they can win awards at the very highest level. Product innovation remains key to the Q Guild and we congratulate all our winners on their many and varied successes.”
