Susan White MBE – trade reaction

The reaction from many people and organisations across the meat trade following news of the death of Susan White MBE has been substantial and, for Susan’s family, overwhelming.

The family would like it to be known that in line with Susan’s wishes, the funeral, which takes place on 14th June, will be a small private event with no flowers. However, those wishing to make a donation in memory of a very special lady should do so to their own favoured charity please.

Mrs White passed away at her home suddenly on Wednesday evening 12th May. She celebrated her 70th birthday in 2020.

Susan stepped down as chair of the Butchers’ & Drovers’ Charitable Institution (BDCI) in 2015 after being actively involved with the charity for over 35 years.

Francesca Wyatt, one of Susan’s daughters, told Meat Management: “We have been overwhelmed with the reaction since the news was released and would like to thank everyone for their kindness. With Covid restrictions it is simply impossible to have a very large funeral, so we are keeping arrangements very intimate and restricted to the immediate family.

“Mum was a very special lady and it is so good to see the reaction for a person that will be missed and fondly remembered by so many friends and colleagues”.

Susan leaves her husband Graham and three daughters, Carla, Fran and Alex, plus five grandchildren.
