WCB Liverymen celebrate in style

An enthusiastic contingent of Liverymen from the Worshipful Company of Butchers celebrated National Butchers Week by joining together at the Butchers Arms Restaurant in Priors Hardwick, Warwickshire, for a special dinner on Thursday 16th March, which featured a delicious Baron of Beef.

The Butchers Arms is a favoured venue of many well-known meat industry personalities living or located in Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Buckinghamshire, as well as other adjoining counties, and this special evening was organised by Peter Allen, of catering butcher Aubrey Allen, who not only supplied the Baron of Aberdeenshire Sirloin, but was seconded to carve the meat, much to the delight of those attending.

Wine merchants Corney & Barrow supplied fine wines for what was universally agreed to be a memorable and most enjoyable evening and  Liverymen from as far away as London and Berkshire attended.

Maître d’ and proprietor of the Butchers Arms Nuno Correia said he was delighted that the restaurant could celebrate along with Liverymen from the WCB: “We have many regular customers from the meat industry who dine here and it was a huge pleasure to host such a special evening. We certainly enjoyed it and I hope our guests did too.”

Peter Allen who organised the event commented: “It’s been such a lovely evening amongst good friends and getting together in such wonderful surroundings has been a real pleasure.”

Graham Yandell, the publisher of Meat Management magazine was another Liveryman in attendance, who added: “This has been a really fun occasion and the beef was superb, absolutely cooked to perfection, and carved by an expert – of course!”.
