Welsh Lamb welcome for Chinese Vice-Premier

Welsh Lamb was part of the welcome for one of China’s most senior politicians at a recent dinner in Cardiff.

Hybu Cig Cymru – Meat Promotion Wales (HCC) provided the PGI Welsh Lamb for the celebration, hosted by Welsh Government First Minister, Carwyn Jones, to mark the visit of Chinese Vice-Premier, Liu Yandong.

The meal was part of a two-day visit during which the Welsh and Chinese governments signed a memorandum of understanding on cultural matters.

HCC chief executive Gwyn Howells, who attended the event, said: “This was a high-profile occasion and a great opportunity to showcase PGI Welsh Lamb to a senior politician from a nation that we would very much like to be able to add to HCC’s expanding export activity in the not too distant future.”

The main course included Welsh Lamb served in three ways – rack, breaded shoulder and faggot – and was accompanied by Pembrokeshire new potatoes, charred leeks, Welsh honey-glazed chantenay carrots & pea pureé with a roast jus.
