Who will be named Manufacturer of the Year 2021?

Each year the Meat Management Industry Awards recognises the finest in manufacturing. As part of the run up to this year’s ceremony which will be held at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole on 9th September, we take a look back at two previous winners to find out what it means to be the best of the best.

After holding a virtual ceremony online in 2020, this year the Meat Management Industry Awards will make a welcome return to an in-person event. Hosted by football icon Kevin Keegan OBE, the 2021 awards ceremony is the highlight of the season for the meat processing and manufacturing industries.

Recognising excellence in meat processing, ‘Manufacturer of the Year’ is one of the many sought-after titles being presented at the awards. Previous winners in this category have gone above and beyond to produce premium quality products, and include a global leader in animal welfare.

2020 Winner: Cranswick plc

One of the largest food producers in Britain today, Cranswick plc produces a wide range of premium meat products, ranging from fresh pork and chicken to gourmet sausages and bacon. The company also manages a variety of cooked meats, premium pastries and a growing Mediterranean foods business. What’s more, Cranswick is a global leader in animal welfare, achieving the highest grade ever awarded across the UK pork production sector as part of the Benchmark on Farm Animal Welfare (BBFAW) report.

Adam Couch, Cranswick’s chief executive officer.

Our judges were impressed by the company’s drive for authentically made products, its vertically integrated supply chain, and its commitment to becoming a net-zero business by 2040.

At the time of the award, Adam Couch, CEO of Cranswick plc said: “To be recognised as Manufacturer of the Year is a real privilege and we are very proud to win this accolade. I am incredibly proud of all the hard work and dedication from each and every one of our staff across the business.”

Couch added: “This gives them the recognition they deserve for all their efforts in making Cranswick such a great company to be involved in.”

2019 Winner: Addo Food Group

Deborah Bolton, CEO of Addo Food Group

The MM Awards judging team were won over by the company’s extensive portfolio of brands that allow Addo to sell around 256 million products every year.
