ABP could acquire Polish beef processor

It has been reported that Irish meat company ABP Food Group is hoping to acquire the assets of Sklodowscy-Tykocin, a Polish beef processor.

ABP Poland, a subsidiary of the group, is said to have notified the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection in Poland of its intentions.

ABP began operating in the Polish market in 2011 after it acquired a plant in Pniewy. The group acquired a second production facility in Klosowice in 2014. Both sites are based in western Poland.

Sklodowscy-Tykocin operates a meat processing facility, a meat cutting plant and a slaughterhouse within a plant in Tykocin, in the eastern region of Poland. It is thought that its beef assets are able to process more than 4,500 cattle per day.

A spokesperson for ABP told Meat Management: “At the moment nothing has been confirmed but, should this change, an announcement will be made in due course.”

ABP was unable to comment any further at this point in time.
