Roger Kelsey, NFMFT chief executive believes the Butchery Trailblazer is a “no brainer”.

The Butchery Trailblazer will see Government increase funding for training from a 50:50 to a 2:1 contribution and offer butchers increased incentives of up to £3,600.

National Federation of Meat and Food Traders chief executive Roger Kelsey said: “Butchery Trailblazer is a ‘no brainer’! It’s an apprenticeship designed by and for the industry with great incentives that gives a butcher with less than 50 staff and a 16-18 year old completing an apprenticeship £3,600. As well as two thirds of the training fee where butchers shopping around can actually make a profit.”
