An outstanding level of nominations has been reported by the organisers of this year’s Women In Meat Industry Awards, with candidates put forward from all across the industry.

Graham Yandell MBE, the publisher of Meat Management magazine, which created the initiative in 2018 and stages the event each year, was very enthusiastic and commented: “I must say that our nominations this year are outstanding once again. It is so rewarding to see nominations coming through for talented individuals who deserve recognition and have done so much for their businesses and for the industry in general.

“The Women In Meat Industry Awards is a unique stand-alone project exclusively provided by Meat Management that generates a high profile for women who contribute in so many ways to different parts of the industry. Many are brilliant role models, some have overcome personal challenges or particular problems, others have been an important catalyst in making sure a business not only survives but thrives because of their contribution or leadership.

“These awards remain totally unique in recognising talent and success across the key industry sectors and in revealing what has and is being achieved. It certainly smashes through any traditional stereotypical beliefs that the meat industry is all about men. It clearly is not.

“It’s also good to see so many leading companies large and small that are gender aware participating in the nomination process or partnering the initiative and attending the hugely popular ceremony when winners and finalists are recognised.

“The nomination process, during which you can put candidates forward, concludes next week on Tuesday 1st July, so the message is get online and nominate today before it’s too late.”

Once the nomination process concludes there will be a list of finalists shortlisted across 12 categories published shortly afterwards and that is when voting commences to decide this year’s winners.
