Gordon King appointed as new executive manager at Scottish Craft Butchers

Scottish Craft Butchers (SCB) has announced its new executive manager will be Gordon King, who is set to take over the position vacated by Douglas Scott.

Gordon King will take over Douglas Scott as executive manager.

SCB says King will bring a wide range of experience both of the meat industry and delivery of training, and has become well known and well respected by both the employers and employees that he has worked with.

He started off as an apprentice at McCallums, his local butcher in Auchterarder, rising to the position of shop manager before leaving in 2005 to take the opportunity to become an assessor with Scottish Meat Training (SMT).

He is a fully qualified assessor / verifier and has represented SMT at SQA, Skills Development Scotland and Cross Party Food Groups.

Some will also know Gordon for his engagement with RHET, Lantra and QMS at Royal Highland Shows.

Scottish Craft Butcher’s president Scott Jarron said that he was very impressed by the quality of applicants.

He explains: “We went through a thorough selection process, the candidates we interviewed were all well qualified for the position. I would like to thank all the applicants for showing interest and congratulate Gordon King for coming out on top.”

Scott will be leaving Scottish Craft Butcher at the end of May after 17 years of service.
