Industry attends Worshipful Company of Butchers Charity Gala

Liverymen of the Worshipful Company of Butchers (WCB) gathered with their guests in the impressive surroundings of London’s Guildhall on 15th June for the Master’s Charity Gala.

The annual event aims to raise funds for charity as well as to offer industry an opportunity to gather and enjoy an evening of food, dancing and entertainment.

With the home of WCB – Butchers’ Hall – currently being redeveloped, the focus of this year’s event was to raise funds as well as to support the Lifelites charity which donates assistive technology to children in hospice care.

The evening featured a live auction, a ‘Heads n Tails’ game and various entertainment. After the meal, guests were able to enjoy a casino and dancing to live band The Eastcoast Boys.

At the time of writing, WCB told Meat Management that funds are still being counted, but the event has been hailed a success.

Master Geoff Gillo said: “My sincere thanks to all who have supported this event. It is an immense privilege to be Master of this proud and ancient Livery.

“The aim of our company is to be ‘at the heart of our industry’. The redevelopment of our seventh hall providing a legacy for the future is hugely important and timely in delivering that aim.

“The Worshipful Company of Butchers continues to play its part in the community. Guests’ support will ensure its continuance.”
