Bob Carnell, CEO of red meat processor ABP Food Group’s UK division, has announced his decision to retire, with Kevin Cahill to be appointed the new CEO.

Kevin Cahill currently holds the position of managing director of ABP’s Ireland and Poland operations, and will become CEO of the UK division effective from the beginning of April.

Bob Carnell will depart from his role at the end of March but will remain in an advisory position to ensure a smooth transition. 

Frank Stephenson, ABP Food Group’s CEO, commented: “We are delighted to see Kevin transfer to the UK division as CEO. Following an extensive search, we are confident that Kevin has the knowledge and experience of the sector along with the proven leadership skills that are right for the business.

“Kevin will work with the team, many of whom he knows well, to take the division into its next chapter of trading in the evolving consumer environment. The board, colleagues and wider industry wish to thank Bob Carnell for his outstanding leadership as CEO over the last six and a half years.

In a post on LinkedIn, Bob Carnell stated: “After 36 years in the food industry I have announced my retirement from full-time executive employment. I have been privileged to work in an industry that has shaped me both personally and professionally.

“I would like to thank all my customers, colleagues, suppliers and other stakeholders (both past and present) who have supported me over the years. The quality of those relationships have had a profound impact on me and I hope I have been able to have a positive impact in return.

“I look forward to finishing at ABP in the next few weeks and then starting to develop my advisory/non-executive career.”
