Allan, of Allan Bennett Limited, was named Supreme Champion for his Pork Pie product, while the Sausage Champion title went to Michael Kennedy of F R Kennedy & Son for his Traditional Pork Sausage.

The annual event, which took place at the NEC in Birmingham on 17th April, is open to independent butchers, farm shops and food processors wishing to demonstrate the quality of their products on an national stage.

The competition’s categories range from sausages and bacon through to beef burgers, ready meals and pies. This year the event also saw, for the first time, the inclusion of a Kitchen Ready category.

All categories were judged live on the day by a panel of meat industry experts and awards of Gold, Silver and Bronze were issued for products achieving the required standard in all categories. Trophies were also awarded to each of the category winners.

A full list of winners are expected to be available soon on the NFMFT website: www.nfmft.co.uk.
