Asda has recalled its Chicken & Sweetcorn Pasta Salad due to the presence of salmonella, a bacterium that can cause food poisoning.

The recall specifically refers to Asda’s 400g Chicken & Sweetcorn Pasta Salad with a use-by date of 23rd April 2016.

The company has displayed product recall notices in stores selling the products.

In its statement Asda said: “Asda is recalling its Chicken and Pasta Salad 400g [date code: 23rd April]… on a precautionary basis, because salmonella has been found during routine testing of one sample. If you have purchased this product, please do not eat it.”

Customers who have purchased the product can return it to an Asda store for a full refund. Receipts are not needed.

No other Asda products are known to be affected by this recall.
