Under the new arrangement, Acoura will be able to offer audits such as pig welfare, manufacturing practices, food quality and safety for the BMPA Pork Scheme, which covers pork, bacon, sausages, ham and cooked pork.

Henrietta Sameke, technical policy advisor at the BMPA commented: “We’re looking forward to working with Acoura and believe that their wide range of combined audit services, technical expertise and full UK coverage will be of benefit to both our existing and future members.

“The BMPA have plans to grow our quality assurance membership and strengthn the brand over the coming year, and through partnering with another specialist in our sector we hope to bring the benefits of our schemes to a wider audience.”

SAI Global, BMPA’s longstanding audit provider, will continue in its current role. The appointment of Acoura was made in response to feedback from BMPA scheme participants asking for a wider choice of service providers.
