Food company, BRF is continuing its global expansion by holding negotiations with UK meat distributor, Universal Meats, Thailand poultry producer, Golden Foods Siam (GFS) and Dutch company, Eclipse Holding Cooperatief UA, which controls Campo Austral in Argentina.
"This is a milestone in the company's history and a clear message that our expansion plan is serious and consistent," Pedro Faria, Global CEO said.
Any planned acquisition of Universal Meats, which focuses on the foodservice sector, would allow BRF to expand its current client portfolio in the UK.
Moreover, BRF hopes a US$ 360 million deal to gain control of one of Thailand’s largest cooked poultry producers and exporters of processed foods, GFS will enable the company to generate synergies across diverse markets in Europe and Asia. The deal is being negotiated through BRF’s subsidiary BRF GmbH.
The acquisition of Eclipse Holding will involve an investment of US$ 85 million and will mark BRF’s entry into Argentina’s pork market. The conclusion of the deal will see BRF become the second largest player in the country’s pork market.
