In the run-up to 25th December, the ‘Winner! Winner! Turkey Dinner!’ campaign will work to encourage consumer purchases of the whole turkey for Christmas, rather than just the crown or a breast joint.

The campaign comes as 2026 marks 500 years since turkey was brought to England by William Strickland in 1526, when he sold six birds for profit in Bristol.

Producers taking part include: Bernard Matthews; 2 Sisters Agriculture; Avara Foods; Hockenhull Turkeys; Kelly Turkeys; Gressingham Foods; Capstone Poultry; Traditional Norfolk Poultry; Traditional Farm Fresh Turkey Association; and Anglian Turkey Association.

Consumers will have access to carving and cooking instructions as part of the campaign.

According to the producers, the campaign will aim to change consumer views on the cost of turkey, as well as the task of carving and cooking the whole bird.

Producers will work to encourage buyers with cost benefits of buying the whole bird as well as publishing carving guides and demos, cooking tips for the main meal and leftover recipes from UK chefs.
