The Livestock and Meat Commission (LMC) has announced that its cookery demonstrations will return for 2026/27.
Running from September to March, the programme will be available to pupils from Year 8-Year 14 across Northern Ireland.
LMC said its cookery demonstration programme complements the work the Commission carries out in collaboration with the education sector on behalf of its levy payers.
The portfolio of activity aims to support the availability of NIFQA beef and lamb in classrooms for practical cookery lessons, classroom materials designed to support theoretical learning from primary to post primary level and upskilling teachers on beef and lamb education.
Commenting on the programme relaunch, Emma Brownlee, LMC education and consumer promotions manager, said: “Our post primary programme aligns to the CCEA curriculum and provides a unique opportunity for pupils to learn more about the Northern Ireland Beef and Lamb Farm Quality Assurance (NIFQA) Scheme, nutrition, sustainability, food provenance and food safety.
“Last year, we were delighted to engage with more than 10,000 pupils through the delivery of 400 post primary demonstrations. Through these engaging, practical sessions pupils experience a beef or lamb dish being freshly prepared and cooked and have an opportunity to sample the dish too.
“Each pupil who attends a demonstration takes home an LMC recipe book. Inside is a compilation of simple recipes which can be recreated at home, alongside subject relevant information to further learnings around key topic areas.”
Bookings will open on Tuesday 1st September, with teachers encouraged to book early to avoid disappointment.
