Chancellor Rishi Sunak has written personally to Norman Bagley, head of policy for the Association of Independent Meat Suppliers (AIMS), to congratulate him and the organisation for their success at the Meat Management Industry Awards 2020.
The Awards, which aired earlier this month and are available to view on-demand, recognised AIMS as the Best Trade Organisation, before rewarding Bagley with the Meat Management Excellence Award, which is given to an outstanding member of the meat industry.
In the letter, Sunak said: “I was delighted to hear of your tremendous success in the 2020 Meat Management Awards – both as an individual and as a senior member of the team at the Association of Independent Meat Suppliers.
“From our correspondence and meetings over the years I have become aware of the contribution you have made to the meat supply and processing industry so I know the presentation of the overall Excellence Award for 2020 is most deserved and justified.
“I am sure you will have taken equal pleasure in AIMS being recognised as the Best Trade Organisation too – which I am sure is recognition of the important role played by the Association during the current pandemic.”
In response, Bagley said: “Now and again it all seems worthwhile. Well done to all of the team.”
Pam Brook, editor of Meat Management magazine, added: “It's great to have a potential future PM acknowledge Norman’s achievements and the work of AIMS and of course to know that the Meat Management Awards have parliamentary kudos!”
AIMS team members, Craig Kerby, said: "Congratulations Norman, that’s amazing and says it all! Well done,” and Laura Ryan added: “Brilliant letter, well done!”
