Dubai will host one of the world’s biggest trade shows next week and Hybu Cig Cymru – Meat Promotion Wales (HCC) will be there for a slice of the action.
The premium quality and distinctive flavour of Welsh Lamb will be promoted to thousands of buyers during Gulfood, a five-day event which is held at the trading hub of the Middle East.
HCC will be one of over 4,200 exhibitors at the show and will share a stand with the Welsh Government to ensure a perfect platform for cooking demonstrations, meetings and networking opportunities.
“The theme at this year’s Gulfood is ‘International Flavours, World Class Business’,” according to Laura Dodds, Market Development Manager at HCC. “We are excited about meeting new and existing customers, providing them with an opportunity to sample Welsh Lamb and showing them that it really is a ‘world class’ product.”
Welsh Lamb has been available in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) since 2006 but there has been a significant increase in demand in recent years.
“Affluence levels are rising in the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the population is gradually moving towards a more protein-rich diet,” according to Gwyn Howells, HCC Chief Executive. “Therefore, there is clearly an opportunity for Welsh Lamb to make an impact and this is very good news for red meat processors in Wales who will accompany us to Gulfood again this year.”
