The deadline to apply for a £3000 travel fund to enhance understanding of the red meat sector is fast approaching, and interested parties are being urged to apply as soon as possible.
Farmers, butchers, chefs and other ambitious individuals involved in the red meat industry may qualify for the HCC Scholarship to travel the world, exploring new techniques and practices to develop personal and industry understanding.
The deadline for applications for this opportunity is June 17th.
Previous scholars have studied a wide range of topics including sheep genetics, digital shepherding, butchery practice and beef and sheep grading systems and have travelled to far-flung destinations including Norway, America, Australia and New Zealand to witness the industry in practice across the globe.
HCC industry development executive James Ruggeri explained: “The HCC Scholarship is a fantastic opportunity and platform for individuals involved in the red meat sector in Wales to further their knowledge and explore ideas and initiatives.
“The Scholarship is open to individuals over the age of 18 who have a research topic in mind which will benefit their own business or development as well as the wider industry,”
Ruggeri continued: “Although many of our previous scholars have focused on topics directly related to farming and sheep and beef production, we also welcome applications from individuals who may be interested in taking a slightly different angle such as new product development, environmental impacts or sustainability.
“I would urge anyone with an idea they wish to pursue or a technique they would like to explore to apply.”
