Organisers of the UK meat industry’s only dedicated exhibition, Meatup, are currently adding the finishing touches to the event – which opens its doors in just over one month’s time.
The show, taking place at ArenaMK, Milton Keynes, from 24th to 25th May, offers a prime opportunity for businesses within the meat industry to showcase what they do and to network with like-minded individuals.
What to expect from the show
Visitors to Meatup will be able to view some of the latest technologies and innovations in their sectors – be it manufacturing, processing, butchery or machinery.
A topical programme of seminars from industry experts will also be taking place in the Seminar Theatre. Speakers include Dr. Phil Hadley of AHDB Beef & Lamb; Gavan Wafer of the National Food Crime Unit (NFCU); Lucianne Allen of Aubrey Allen; Norman Bagley of AIMs; Peter Wareing of Leatherhead Food Research and Nathan Ward of Kantar Worldpanel.
There will also be a competitions area at the show which will host high profile craft butchery contests – including the Premier Young Butcher Competition.
Who’s exhibiting?
A number of high profile names, including Handtmann, Treif, AHDB, Bizerba, Costco and Lucas Ingredients will be exhibiting at the show.
Meat Management asked a selection of exhibitors what they will be up to at the event.
Handtmann’s sales manager for UK and Ireland, Anthony Daniels, said: "As an international brand name and with our UK head office situated close to the Milton Keynes Arena, our attendance at Meatup is an obvious opportunity for us to market ourselves directly to local businesses. We are very excited to be able to connect with new people on the stand as well as old faces from our established customer base."
Ruth Jackson from Row & Sons explained how Meatup is a great opportunity for her business. She said: “Row & Sons have been building butchers’ blocks for over 130 years and Meatup is a great opportunity for the craftsmen to demonstrate their skills. Every Row & Sons block is built to the individual customer requirement, taking into consideration the environment that they work in. We will be showing our traditional butchers’ blocks at the event along with accompanying butchers’ sundries.”
ULMA’s UK managing director, Chris Pickles, said: “Visitors to our stand will be staggered by the vast range of innovative packaging machines and technology we can offer. Meatup provides the ideal platform for visitors to interact with our experts and discover the benefits of the customised solutions available from ULMA.”
Kemtile’s David Priest added: “We’re lucky enough to have worked with many leading players within the sector and our presence at Meatup will provide us with an excellent opportunity to showcase exactly what we do and how we operate amongst a very important audience.”
A word from the organisers
Show organiser Emma Cash said: “We are now at the final stage of preparations for Meatup and the organising team are really looking forward to the show. Located at a new, modern venue, the exhibition has a fresh look for 2017 and a diverse number of exhibitors. I am particularly looking forward to seeing the butchery competitions in action and discovering who will be crowned 2017’s Premier Young Butcher. Visitors should also ensure they take their seats in the Seminar Theatre where hot industry topics ranging from antimicrobial resistance to Brexit will be discussed. Another highlight will be the free bacon butty breakfast which should set visitors up for a packed two days of networking!”
