Organisers of the National Meat Products Competition, taking place at the Meatup on 24th May at ArenaMK, Milton Keynes, are gearing up for the event and reminding butchers across the UK that time is running out to enter their products.
This year’s competition, hosted by the National Federation of Meat & Food Traders (NFMFT) will be the biggest one yet with 22 categories, including the brand new Young Sausage Maker award. All entries will be judged live at the show.
Awards of gold, silver and bronze will be presented to products achieving the required standard, while trophies will be awarded to all category winners, as well as the winners of the coveted Supreme Production Champion and Supreme Sausage Champion accolades.
In addition, the winner of the Supreme Sausage Champion award will gain automatic entry into the Champion of Champions event that is set to take place later this year.
NFMFT chief executive Roger Kelsey commented: “With the industry attracting more young people into butchery we felt the time was right to include this award.”
The competition is open to all independent butchers, farm shops, manufacturers and processors and all entries must be registered by 19th May on www.nfmft.co.uk.
