YPL Exhibitions & Events, the organisers of the annual Meat Management Industry Awards, have reassured participants that it is ‘business as usual’ for the dinner and ceremony this year.

Previous Meat Management Industry Awards ceremonies have attracted up to 500 guests.

Editor of Meat Management magazine Pam Brook commented: “ As we have arranged the dinner and ceremony to take place later than is usual on September 2nd, we have had a number of enquiries about the product judging results, seeking clarification about what is happening.

"Entry levels were fantastic, especially considering the prevailing circumstances with around 1,000 products being evaluated by the judges and home economists. Voting this year has also been really strong and it all creates an optimistic outlook for the much anticipated ceremony in September."

“In fact, judging was fully completed on time over a full week of activity at the Regional Food Academy within Harper Adams University back in March. Entry levels were fantastic, especially considering the prevailing circumstances with around 1,000 products being evaluated by the judges and home economists. Voting this year has also been really strong and it all creates an optimistic outlook for the much anticipated ceremony in September.

“All the results have been collated and we will move forward with contacting everyone in due course. There is simply a longer period between judging and the ceremony this year than would normally be the case. Clearly we will also continue to monitor the Covid-19 situation and will review the ceremony date should it become necessary – let’s hope that is not required.”

Products were entered in ten categories and evaluated based on the exacting criteria used every year.

Chief judge and CEO of the Institute of Meat Keith Fisher, headed up the judging team at Harper Adams University.

Chief judge of the MM Awards and CEO of the Institute of Meat Keith Fisher was enthusiastic about the standard of products in the 2020 mix. He commented: “As always, the Meat Management Awards set a benchmark for products entered, coming in from a myriad of businesses. These arrive from every corner of the meat industry.

“As is usual the standards are very high and competition is stiff, so the eventual winners really can feel that their products are top drawer and something to shout about. We judge to exacting and consistent standards, and once again we have a brilliant Awards night in prospect, especially at a fantastic new venue.”

Publisher of Meat Management magazine, Graham Yandell, added: “With such high anticipation this year, it’s fitting that the biggest Awards event serving the UK meat industry is to get a face lift in 2020. The Meat Management Industry Awards ceremony and dinner is to move to the Vox, located within Resort World, adjacent to the NEC in Birmingham.

“The Awards are the top accolade that everyone wants to win in our particular food sector, and we are really delighted with the substantial level of participation again this year. If all goes to plan, we are set for a great night on 2nd September with a first-class dinner and entertainment, so that everyone can celebrate in style. Goodness knows we all deserve it.

“It is exciting to see the Meat Management Industry Awards going from strength to strength and that it remains the biggest and most prestigious event of its kind in the UK.”
