The judging process for the 600 products entered into the Meat Management Awards 2014 has begun at Harper Adams University this week.
With a record number of entries the judging period has been extended to three days. Chief judge, Keith Fisher, BPEX's butchery manager, said: "The myriad of products that this competition attracts never fails to amaze me. The range and diversity we have the pleasure of tasting and evaluating confirms the ever-increasing quality and high standard from within the British meat industry."
Editor Pamela Brook added: "I would like to thank the manufacturers and retailers who have participated again this year. Next stop is the awards ceremony dinner at The Grand Connaught Rooms in London on 4th June where the very best will be celebrated. I hope as many people as possible from the trade will join us for what promises to be a night to remember in the industry calendar."
