The latest addition to Multivac’s traysealer portfolio was recently unveiled to the UK market at the company’s first ever traysealing showcase event.
Meat Management was among visitors to Multivac’s three-day tray sealing showcase event where guests had the opportunity to see the all new G700 traysealer, as well as attend seminars with industry experts, experience machine demonstrations and ask questions in a live debate.
Demonstrations of other machinery within Multivac’s range also took place throughout the event, held at Multivac’s UK headquarters in Swindon, which recently underwent a £2 million redevelopment.
In addition to learning about Multivac’s products, guests had the chance to hear from experts on the topics of Automation, Check Weighing and Foreign Body Detection and Special Labelling applications. Of particular interest was a talk by industry specialist Suzanne Nuttall on Understanding Equipment Performance Measures in a Lean Environment.
Speaking at the event, Ian Weathersone, traysealing product manager, said: “We are the one stop shop offering everything from individual pieces of equipment to a full integrated line. Whatever your needs are, they can be met by us.”
With its new G700 traysealer, Multivac is responding to the convenience trend as the demand particular for ready meals and antipasti continues to grow.
Depending on the product to be packed, the G700 can produce tray packs with or without modified atmosphere.
When producing packs with modified atmosphere, the G700 uses gas purging of the trays. There is no requirement to evacuate them. The G700 is said to achieve cycle rates of up to 15 cycles per minute with modified atmosphere. When packing without modified atmosphere, up to 18 cycles per minute can be achieved.
In addition to plastic trays, the G700 can run trays made of aluminium or board, as well as multi-chamber trays and those with a wide variety of shapes, and the tray height can be up to a maximum of 110 mm. The G700 has a precise tray transport system, which the company says ensures that the trays are transported very gently.
When it comes to the loading and infeed of the trays, the G700 can be equipped with Multivac belt systems or drag chain infeed systems, in which appropriate denesters can be integrated.
The G700 has been equipped with an intuitive user interface for a high degree of process reliability and a high level of ergonomic operating convenience.
Multivac outlines the benefits of the G700
Ian Weatherstone said: “The development of this unit has been specifically tailored to the convenience market, enabling us to offer a competitive solution into the lucrative ready meal market.
“The G700 is equipped with both ‘Sealing only’ and limited MAP options (Gas Flush). Due to the fact no vacuum pump is required, we have been able to achieve an open, lightweight and attractively priced addition to our portfolio of traysealers.”
Weatherstone explained that the G700 design is based on the T700 mahcine’s frame, with major differences between the two designs being the lifting system and die set design, along with a simplified interface unit.
“The G700 is a very economical machine, which does not require cooling water and consumes only a minimal amount of compressed air (< 0.1 l/cycle),” he explained. “This is achieved due to the G700’s new lifting unit and die concept. With its output of up to 18 cycles/minute for ‘Sealing only’ and up to 15 cycles/minute with ‘MAP without vacuum’, the G700 has a very competitive price/performance ratio. We are also pleased to announce an improved 15 cycles/minute when running foil trays.”
