An alternative cuts guide designed to appeal to consumers who prefer steaks to more traditional cuts is now available as part of the recently-refreshed EBLEX beef box scheme kit.
The alternative cutting options for rump, topside, thick flank, chuck roll and feather muscle differ from the original specifications in that a lot of the cuts used produce high quality frying or grilling steaks rather than roasting joints, casserole joints, braising or diced beef.EBLEX direct sales manager Michael Richardson said: “This additional product range is well-suited to quick, mid-week meals, producing innovative steaks with a consistent eating quality.“It provides farm shops and direct selling businesses with the opportunity to expand their offering and offers a solution if customers are saying they would prefer more steak meat in their beef box.”The original specifications will still be available for those whose customers prefer the more traditional cuts. The beef box scheme kit, which is designed to provide farmers with all the resources they need to sell their meat directly to consumers, has, together with the box scheme kit for lamb, been given a facelift for 2014 with refreshed branding.Step-by-step cutting specifications are available with both kits, together with freezer-proof meat labels and posters and recipe leaflets to complement the cuts in the meat box.For more information on the box schemes, or to order your kit, contact the direct selling hotline on 0845 491 8787 or visit the EBLEX website.
