Scanvaegt Systems has introduced the Scanvaegt 1206, marking the first Danish-engineered bench scale featuring an open-frame design specifically developed for the food industry.

Scanvaegt is exclusively represented in the UK by Rolinson Group who said that the launch responds to intensifying regulatory requirements and industry demand for equipment that facilitates thorough cleaning and sanitation protocols.
MD of Rolinson Group Graeme Rolinson commented: this new washdown bench scale addresses rising costs, regulatory scrutiny and food safety standards, all with quality and innovative Nordic engineering.”
With the global food safety testing market projected to grow substantially through to 2031, driven by stricter compliance frameworks and increasing foodborne illness prevention measures, Scanvaegt say that many food processors are actively seeking equipment designed for rigorous washdown environments.
The new scale is designed to meet industry waterproof standards, enabling high-pressure, high-temperature cleaning procedures without equipment damage. The weighing plate is constructed from 316 stainless steel, providing superior corrosion resistance, making it suitable for harsh, chloride-rich, or acidic environments.
“Food manufacturers are operating under unprecedented pressure to demonstrate comprehensive hygiene protocols at every stage of production.”

Thorbjørn Balser Schütt, general manager at Scanvaegt Systems GmbH, commented: “Food manufacturers are operating under unprecedented pressure to demonstrate comprehensive hygiene protocols at every stage of production. We have seen a significant shift in procurement requirements over the past two years, with buyers specifically requesting equipment that does not compromise on cleanability.
“This scale was engineered from the ground up with Danish precision to eliminate the hidden crevices and sealed compartments that make traditional designs difficult to sanitise effectively.”
Graeme Rolinson added: “The timing of this new launch aligns with the industry’s adoption of traceability systems and preventive food safety measures, as manufacturers prepare for evolving compliance requirements. We are already seeing considerable interest from customers.”
