Quality Meat Scotland (QMS) and Scotch Lamb PGI are supporting the STV Children’s Appeal with the Scotch Lamb Kilt2Work fundraiser. It is set to see hundreds of butchers and farmers around the country support TV presenter Lorraine Kelly by wearing their kilts to work during the run-up to the Royal Bank of Scotland Kiltwalk on 18th September.

Kelly will be putting on her walking shoes and kilt to join in Kiltwalk’s 'Big Stroll', a 12 mile trek across Edinburgh to raise money for children and young people affected by poverty in Scotland.

“A big thanks to the butchers and farmers around the country who will be wearing their kilts to work in the coming weeks to help support a fantastic charity,” said Kelly.

“I’m looking forward to meeting many of the farmers and butchers involved in the coming weeks and it is brilliant to have Scotch Lamb supporting my challenge.”

Carol McLaren, head of communications with QMS, added: “This is a great opportunity to raise the profile of the valuable role of Scottish butchers and farmers in their communities, and the profile of the Scotch Lamb brand, as well as raising money for a brilliant charity which is close to everyone’s hearts.”

“The timing of the KiltWalk and Kilt2Work initiatives works perfectly with the industry’s campaign to highlight how easy and quick Scotch Lamb is to cook – a perfect, tasty meal to rustle up for the family at this time of year.”

Farmers will be have the opportunity to show their support for this fantastic charity initiative via a social media campaign where they could be nominated by others to wear their kilts to work, or nominate someone themselves, in return for a donation to the charity.

The butcher and farmer who raise the most for the charity – which will receive 100% of the proceeds – will be invited to take part in the live STV Appeal show on 23rd September.
