Frank Clark, sales director at 2 Sisters Food Group red meat Scottish division, McIntosh Donald, has been named president of the Scottish Association of Meat Wholesalers (SAMW).
Clark took over from Allan Jess, who retired as the association’s president at its annual meeting in Glasgow on 22nd April.
In addition, supply chain manager at Quality Pork LTD, Andy McGowan, has been appointed senior vice president, while Billy Stewart of Scottish beef processing company AK Stoddart, in Ayr, has been named the association’s new junior vice president.
SAMW represents the red meat industry’s views, as well as the interests of its members, to the government and food business leaders in Edinburgh, London and Brussels.
According to SAMW, its members account for almost 100% of the Scottish red meat processing industry, “commanding a combined annual turnover in excess of £870 million and employing over 2,700 people”.
SAMW is also committed to “maintaining the highest possible standards of public health, hygiene and welfare and to the production of top quality end products in which consumers can have complete trust”.
