BPEX's butchery and product development manager, Keith Fisher, is urging UK retailers to: "Stand up for British Bangers during British Sausage Week," by entering BPEX's national competition."Our competition is open to to the independent retail sector plus the multiple retailers and brands," explained Fisher.
British Sausage Week (BSW) began back in 1997 and is now a multi channel, celebrity-supported awareness campaign. A huge variety of sectors participate including butchers, supermarkets, schools, pubs, restaurant chains and branded manufacturers. Last year an extra £2 million of sausages were sold during BSW than the previous four weekly average.
"The highlight of this year's week," continued Fisher, "is our national competition. The vibrancy of the category is, we believe, key to the week's continued success. So, please accept our invitation to enter and become part of the BSW celebrations. All you need to do is complete the entry form and either email or post your nomination to us by 26th August 2012."

"In addition to our team of expert judges, including the illustrious Ladies in Pigs, a Master Butcher with some 40 years experience and a food writer, this year in homage to our 'Stand up' theme we have a 'Beautiful British' comedian as the celebrity leading our search for the very best in British Bangers. Apologies for our secrecy but do keep an eye out in the trade press in September and all will be revealed."
