After years of resistance Tesco has finally succumbed to pressure from its customers and introduced a traffic light system for its products.
This brings it in line with ASDA, Marks & Spencer and Sainsbury's who have used red, green and amber colour coding to indicate nutritional labels for many years.
Tesco's chief executive, Phil Clarke said: "We are committed to doing what is right for our customers and therefore have decided to bring together the distinct benefits of GDAs and traffic lights."
ASDA was reported as commenting: "We'd like to welcome Tesco to the party," and Sainsbury's Justin King welcomed the move too.
