Time is running out to be part of the UK’s most popular meat industry awards event, which is to be hosted by author and broadcaster Gyles Brandreth on Friday 20th May at the Hilton Hotel on Park Lane, London.

Gyles Brandreth.

Introducing Brandreth

A former Oxford scholar, president of the Oxford Union and MP for the City of Chester, Brandreth’s career has ranged from being a Whip and Lord Commissioner of the Treasury in John Major’s Government, to starring in his own award-winning musical revue in London’s West End.

A prolific broadcaster in programmes ranging from Just a Minute, The One Show and Wordaholics, to QI and Have I Got News for You; he is also an author. Brandreth has published two volumes of diaries: Breaking the Code: Westminster Diaries and Something Sensational to Read in the Train: The Diary of a Lifetime. He has also penned two acclaimed royal biographies.

Meat Management editor Emily Ansell Elfer commented: “Gyles is one of Britain’s busiest and most popular after-dinner speakers and award ceremony hosts. He has also won or been nominated for awards himself as a public speaker, novelist, children’s writer, broadcaster, political diarist, journalist and theatre producer. We are delighted that he has made time in his busy schedule to be with us at our Awards Dinner.”

A spectacular evening

The awards event itself recognises 19 categories, including nine exclusive product categories. A highlight of the black-tie night is the presentation of the Excellence Award to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the industry.

The popular awards dinner takes place at the five star Hilton Hotel on Park Lane, London, and is supported by a wide range of key meat industry figures and companies – from supermarkets to manufacturers and trade bodies.
