Butchers, bakers and other pie makers are limbering up to craft their best pies ever as judging day for the annual World Championship Scotch Pie Awards 2022/3 takes place next week. Winners will be selected and the shortlist whittled down to find out who will take top spot.
This annual competition is always hotly contested with not just the best Scotch Pie up for a top prize but also Football Pies and Savouries, Macaroni Pies, Steak Pies, Sausage Rolls, Cold Savouries, Hot Savouries, Vegetarian Savouries, Haggis Savouries, Bridies and Apple Pies.
Judging will take place on 16th November at the Carnegie Conference Centre in Dunfermline.
The competition offers pie producers across Scotland and from further afield the opportunity to be recognised as producers of the highest quality savoury products and apple pies on the market, with awards given to the best products in each category. The winner of the Scotch Pie category will be declared the World Champion.
The winner will be announced at an awards lunch on 24th January 2023 at the Westerwood Hotel, Cumbernauld by TV personality and long-term pie award presenter Carol Smillie. She said: “I am so delighted to be back on board with the World Championship Scotch Pie Awards. The world may have changed, but our love of pies most definitely has not! It’s such a fun day celebrating the skills of so many butchers, bakers and other pie makers who kept the nation’s spirits up with our best loved dish.”
