In the company of Sir Geoff Hurst, the 2014 Meat Management Industry Awards ceremony once again brought the very top names of the UK industry together last night (Wednesday 4th June) to celebrate excellence and reward the best, as voted for by readers of Meat Management magazine and judged by industry experts.
Marks & Spencer triumphant and Britain’s Best Butchers Shop revealed
Winners included Marks & Spencer, which received the Multiple Meat Retailer of the Year Award; The Ginger Pig, Marylebone was named Britain’s Best Butchers Shop; while the Manufacturer of the Year accolade went to Dunbia.
Almost 400 guests attended the highly successful evening at London’s prestigious Grand Connaught Rooms to network and celebrate with the winning companies, products and organisations.

16 awards were made on the night and footballing legend, Sir Geoff Hurst presented the winners with their prizes and certificates.
The Awards are sponsored by major meat promotional bodies and industry suppliers operating in the UK including: EBLEX, BPEX, Hybu Cig Cymru/Meat Promotion Wales, the Meat Training Council, Marel, Reiser and many other top companies and organisations.
The winners of each of the three individual red meat categories went head to head to find the Overall Best Red Meat Product. The Tesco Finest Beef Sirloin Wing Rib with Sea Salt & Mixed Peppercorns and Hilton Meats was judged to be the very best.
The Excellence Award is presented annually at the ceremony to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the UK meat industry. The recipient of this year’s award was David Gunner, the joint managing director of Dovecote Park, the sole beef supplier to Waitrose.
England’s Best Burger
The awards ceremony was also used as a platform by trade body EBLEX, to award England’s Best Burger to Gog Magog Hills Farm Shop.
