A butcher from Great Brickhill in Buckinghamshire has published a book with TV chef Phil Vickery.
According to the MK News, Simon Boddy, owner and front man of The Best Butchers at Lower Rectory Farm for 19 years, has written the book - simply called ‘Pork’ - after meeting Vickery at his store nearly four years ago.
The book was named as The Telegraph’s ‘Book of the Week’ and helped kick-off British Sausage Week for Simon.
“I was introduced to Phil by a customer a few years ago,” Simon told MKWeb. “I had won a few awards that year and we kept in touch and have worked together on a few things, and he already had a deal to write a book.
“He wanted to do one on pork so he gave me a call and asked me if I was interested in helping him!”
Simon said: “The feedback has been brilliant, and a few of the regulars have been trying out some of my recipes.
“I’ve let a few secret recipes out of the bag, but it was well worth doing it because the response has exceeded what I was expecting.
“Phil has said he has loved the reaction too.
“I wouldn’t say there will definitely be a second book by us, but we are looking at perhaps doing something on game, but we’ll have to wait and see about that!”
