Judging completed on Tuesday 22nd October to find this year’s Meat Businesswoman of the Year, with the winner set to be revealed at the forthcoming 5-star awards ceremony in London on 29th November, during the much anticipated Woman In Meat Industry Awards (WIMIA) event.
The final judging brought together a team of industry experts who gathered to consider the winners of 11 categories voted for via the WIMIA website, who then subsequently qualify to be considered for the overall winners’ accolade. Around 14,000 votes were received this year.
All the category winners, including the Meat Businesswoman of the Year Award, will remain confidential until the awards ceremony itself on 29th November, which includes a black-tie dinner and after party taking place at the 5-star Royal Lancaster Hotel, in London.
Libby Goodwin the organiser of the WIMIA event commented: “The dinner and ceremony is set to be a sell-out and capacity is already 80% taken, so once again the response has been very positive indeed. We are looking forward to a great night where amazing women will be recognised and their talent applauded.”
Publisher of Meat Management and chair of the judging panel Graham Yandell MBE added: “The judging day was a very enjoyable and rewarding experience and choosing an overall winner was far from easy. All the finalists and the category winners are great ambassadors for our industry.”
Christine Walsh the CEO of the Food & Drink Training & Education Council, and a member of the judging panel added: “It’s been a hard day because it really has been difficult to choose an overall winner from such a fantastic array of candidates. Some of the ladies have done a phenomenal job and have been part of positive ongoing change in our industry.”
Immediate past editor of Meat Management, Joanna Thomson was equally enthusiastic: “There are so many talented and hardworking women in this sector so it has been a been a joy to be part of the judging process.”
The Women In Meat Industry Awards black tie dinner and ceremony is hosted by celebrity tennis star and TV broadcaster Annabel Croft also known for her success in TV’s Strictly Come Dancing, and the event is once again set to be a highlight in the meat industry calendar and is being supported by an array of top companies, organisations and businesses across the meat industry.
