Meat Management magazine has confirmed the launch of a brand new Awards initiative recognising the immense contribution to the success of the meat industry made by women right across all sectors. The Women in Meat Industry Awards will highlight seven categories and the presentations to recipients will be made at a sparkling black tie dinner at a five star hotel in London on the evening of Friday 16th November 2018.

The categories to be recognised are:

Meat Businesswoman of the Year Award

Meat Businesswoman Award – Retailing
Meat Businesswoman Award – Manufacturing
Meat Businesswoman Award – Craft Butchery
Meat Businesswoman Award – Trade Body
Meat Businesswoman Award – Wholesaling

Commenting on the launch of the new initiative, publisher of Meat Management, Graham Yandell said: “These new Awards will recognise the fantastic contribution made by women throughout our markets and it’s very exciting to be involved. Rewarding excellence, innovation and ability is what Awards like this are all about and frankly, these Awards, reflecting what many women achieve throughout the trade, are a long time overdue. I believe we are uniquely placed at Meat Management as UK market leader to successfully create these Awards and to make them highly valued and credible. It’s clear that Meat Management magazine has the credentials as well as the reach across the meat industry to engage with readers and opinion formers, and as organisers we can offer an unrivalled pedigree when it comes to staging quality events and running successful Awards - year in and year out.”

Voting and nominations will start in June 2018 via the pages of Meat Management and its website meatmanagement.com and will also be supported by its sister publication Food Management Today magazine. Those interested in booking a table at the Women in Meat Industry Awards dinner on 16th November can already contact Emma Cash and reserve places.

The dinner will include a celebrity female host to help present the seven unique Awards, which will also feature the Meat Businesswomen of the Year Award. A five star dinner and the Awards presentations will then be followed by dancing to ensure the party atmosphere continues. Organisers believe that the November date on a Friday will also offer a timely opportunity for staying over and taking the opportunity for some Christmas shopping in the capital. Package deals for accomodation will be on offer in good time for those booking the event.

When interviewed, organiser Emma Cash of YPL Exhibitions & Events was enthusiastic about the launch: “These new Awards will be brilliant. Not only will it be a fantastic way to recognise excellence, but will allow companies, trade bodies and trade suppliers in the meat industry to show their credentials when it comes to being gender aware. I know from our highly successful annual MM Meat Industry Awards how many women are out there in all sectors making a big difference and demonstrating skill, flair, innovation and leadership. I am proud that our company is breaking ground to recognise that, and to reward it.”

The Women in Meat Industry Awards will also be open to sponsorship from partners who wish to be commercially involved. Michelle Ingerfield of Meat Management said: “We have seven categories, each of which will be available to sponsor as a category partner. The attractive packages come with a host of benefits including a table at the Awards dinner on 16th November and substantial advertising and PR exposure. I expect all categories to be taken up very quickly following the announcement.”
