In addition, the overall Meat Businesswoman of the Year will be revealed who will already be a category winner from one of the above.

The process, which started back in the summer, saw nominees voted for by the readers of Meat Management, and the wider industry. The winner of each category (excepting the Rising Star Award, which is a stand-alone presentation) is then put forward to a panel of judges on a closed and confidential basis to decide who will be the overall Meat Businesswoman of the Year.

This prestigious accolade is given to a candidate who has made or is making an outstanding contribution to the UK meat industry and her company or business.

The judges praised the outstanding quality of this year’s category winners, who are each making an impact in their chosen field and are role models for women working across the industry or to those who are considering a career in the sector.

Meat Management editor Gwen Mostyn commented: “What an inspiration these candidates are, their hard work and dedication to the industry is plain to see. It is a pleasure to be able to highlight the incredible work being done by women in the meat sector, and choosing just one person to become Meat Businesswoman of the Year was no easy task. I have nothing but praise for each of our category winners.”

Graham Yandell, publisher of Meat Management magazine, which organises and stages the awards, added: “It was a pleasure to chair the judging panel again this year and fortunately my casting vote as chairperson was not required, as we had a unanimous decision from all four judges. It was very close however!”

The Women In Meat Industry Awards black tie dinner and ceremony will be hosted this year by leading impressionist Rory Bremner alongside actor, presenter and writer Julie Peasgood.
