Bettcher Industries Inc., part of the Fortifi Food Processing Solutions Group (Ohio, USA), delivers high-performance cutting tools engineered to boost yield, lower maintenance costs and enhance user comfort with ergonomic design.
Quantum Flex® Trimmer: precision and ergonomics at their best
Bettcher’s state-of-the-art tools are widely used in meat processing plants, where they support efficient operations while helping to increase yield and maintain high product quality.
Quantum Flex® trimmers available in various sizes, from X350 to X1940, as well as handheld Cyclone skinners, are used at numerous processing plants. These state-of-the-art tools are characterised by their low weight, exceptional cutting performance and ergonomic handling.
The QF trimmer’s innovative circular blades are used in both slaughtering and cutting, including for defatting and deboning meat pieces or removing cartilage. Meat processors benefit from Bettcher’s continuous optimisation of its tools in terms of performance, weight and ergonomics.
Latest generation: Quantum Flex+
Like previous models, the latest generation of Quantum Flex+® trimmers are electrically powered, consuming less energy than pneumatic alternatives, reducing operational costs and environmental impact. Technical adjustments, including a modified blade attachment, boost cutting power and speed while reducing vibrations.
Patented rotating, durable blades offer adjustable depth – a unique feature that offers meat processing companies a great deal of flexibility in product processing. The tools are around 15% lighter and less top-heavy than conventional trimmers, their handles can be adjusted to suit different hand sizes, and the balance of the tool has been improved to reduce strain on operators.
Maintenance-free DriveLine
A key part of Bettcher’s approach to sustainability is its patented, maintenance-free DriveLine, which can be used with a vast range of Bettcher tools. It incorporates a permanently mounted flexible shaft within a sealed casing that eliminates the need for daily cleaning or greasing, reduces routine maintenance and supports hygiene standards. With fewer parts to manage and no specialised training required, the DriveLine simplifies upkeep for processors.
Supporting technologies: Edge Management
Bettcher’s Edge Management Automatic Blade Sharpener restores blades to their factory edge with precision, consistency, and minimal effort. Controlled grinding delivers optimum sharpness while removing as little material as possible, extending blade life.
The self-sharpening grinding wheel requires no dressing and lasts longer than standard wheels. A quick-load collet system holds blades securely in place for accurate sharpening, while the automatic process reduces operator error and ensures uniform results.
Compatible with all Bettcher Trimmer series, it allows operators to work on other tasks during the sharpening cycle. Simple setup, minimal training and a built-in storage drawer for blade holders and accessories make it an efficient, user-friendly sharpening solution.
Customer support
Local Bettcher experts across Europe help customers select the right tools. In the UK, Gary Steventon, regional sales executive for UK, Poland and Ireland Bettcher, emphasises there are no standard applications.
“We work closely with our customers, we look at the applications and then suggest the best solutions for optimising operational processes,” he explains. “Every facility has its own unique challenges, whether it’s improving yield, reducing strain on operators or streamlining maintenance routines. Our role is to understand those needs in detail and make sure the tools we recommend deliver real, measurable results on the production floor.”
