Bidvest Fresh has acquired catering butcher, Knight Meats, which will join the business’ portfolio of fresh food specialists.

The purchase was agreed on 1st April and will see the Chelmsford based butchers increase Bidvest Fresh’s butchery portfolio that currently includes Campbell Brothers in Scotland and Henson’s in central London.

Knight Meats was established in 1992 and provides a range of fresh meat, poultry and deli produce for the professional kitchen, including hotels and restaurants.

Bidvest Fresh supplies meat and other food products to both national and independent customers in the catering industry.

Chief executive of Bidvest Fresh, Stephen Oswald, commented: “We are very pleased to welcome James and Carol Knight and their team at Knight Meats to our group of businesses.

“Knight Meats is a fabulous business and we will continue to help support and promote them through our customer base of independent restaurants and caterers in the region.”
