According to a report in The Edinburgh Evening News, the beleaguered Vion plant, Hall’s of Broxburn, is set to become a new village with a little help from former meat and bus businesses.

Former owner of Hall’s, Fred Duncan, who sold the Grampian Country Food Group to Vion for over ?350 million in 2008, is reported to have joined forces with the co-founder of the Stagecoach bus company, Ann Gloag to help fund the planned community hub.

The business duo are directors of Broxburn Regeneration Ltd., and have plans to build houses, a restaurant, shops and offices on the site, creating around 200 jobs on the 19-acre site.

Broxburn Regeneration Ltd will apparently purchase the site from Vion once it has been cleared.
