Oakpark Foods is based in Cahir Co Tipperary and is a leading supplier of bacon and pork products to supermarkets in Ireland and the UK. The company also exports to Scandinavia and is currently planning to export to mainland Europe. Exports now represent 46% of sales and the factory currently has 85 full time employees. Employment has doubled in the past two years and a further ten people will be taken on for the Christmas campaign.

The new Traceability system which was designed by DATOS Professional Solutions is based on best available science and will facilitate the continuing growth of Oakpark Foods, particularly in export markets. The DATOS system covers all processes in the factory and provides stock control with full traceability as product moves through the factory from one department to another. It provides a seamless, constant flow of information ensuring that customers get the right product, to the correct specification, at the correct price and on time. It will greatly enhance the accuracy of information and make a huge contribution to efficiency in the plant.

According to David Brett, General Manager, Oakpark Foods, “our policy is to maximise the efficiency of our factory so that we can compete with leading international players both domestically and internationally. Our future plans are to continue to grow the company, aiming for higher market shares in both Ireland and the UK with an increased emphasis on value added products”.
