MM Meat Industry Awards 2020 judging gets underway

Product judging for this year’s MM Meat Industry Awards has begun as many of the 1,000 products entered into this year’s competition began to arrive at The Regional Food Academy at Harper Adams University, despite the ongoing difficulties presented by Covid-19.

Home economists get down to cooking and presenting the judging panel with the first of the 1,000 entries entered into the Meat Management Industry Awards 2020.

The judges and home economists are in for a busy few days as the products entered are evaluated based on the exacting criteria used every year.

Editor of Meat Management magazine Pam Brook said: “This is a really fascinating part of the process. As usual the bar seems to be set high again this year. The Meat Management Meat Industry Awards is the top accolade everyone wants to win in our food sector and we are really delighted with the level of participation, even with the exceptional circumstances we find ourselves in.”

Chief judge and CEO of the Institute of Meat Keith Fisher was excited about the standard of products in the mix: “We judge to exacting and consistent standards, and once again we have a brilliant few days in prospect.”

Awards organiser Emma Cash added: “I’d like to thank everyone who has made that extra special effort to get their entries to the test kitchens. We’ve a way to go yet but I am looking forward to the Awards ceremony and dinner, which we have now rescheduled for 2nd September when the winners, finalists and highly commended products will be revealed.”
