Moy Park scholarship for Harper Adams student

Moy Park has awarded a top performing Harper Adams University student with a scholarship as part of the British Poultry Council Scholarship Scheme.

First year agri-food marketing student, Emily Hughes from Shropshire, was awarded the scholarship from Moy Park which includes a bursary and a 12 month placement with the company.

Now in its sixth year, the scholarship programme recognises high calibre first and second year students studying agriculture or food production. As well as making a contribution towards tuition fees, the scholarships provide successful candidates with practical, hands-on experience working with leaders in the food industry.

At Moy Park, Emily will have the opportunity to learn about various aspects of agriculture production including flock monitoring, biosecurity procedures and animal welfare, and will visit and work in many of the firm’s facilities.

Moy Park’s head of talent and organisational development, Katharine Strain, said: “Having supported the British Poultry Council Scholarship Scheme at Harper Adams University for the last three years, we know how enthusiastic and dedicated its agri-food students are.

“Moy Park is committed to nurturing talent and offering outstanding training and development opportunities so we are delighted to award this year’s scholarship to Emily and look forward to welcoming her to the agriculture team when her placement begins this summer.”

Further demonstrating its commitment to people development, Moy Park recently announced an £8 million investment in a strategic skills growth programme which will see training and learning initiatives rolled out across its entire workforce over the next four years.
